UDANI PERERA
Udani Perera is the founding lawyer of Perera Law Group. Udani is licensed to practice law in Alberta and Ontario. Udani completed her JD at the Faculty of Law of Queen’s University, and received her Honors BA in Law and Society at York University.
Udani started her legal career working for an in-house legal department of a global consumer goods manufacturer where she worked on corporate law matters involving statutory and regulatory compliance as well as negotiation and drafting of service agreements. She played a central part in implementing an in-house Agricultural Practice Program that promoted safe and fair working conditions for tobacco farm workers across the globe. Udani then worked at a reputable full-service law firm based in Downtown Toronto before venturing off on her own and establishing Perera Law Group. Udani has worked on matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for family, civil and real estate litigation. Udani’s past experiences also includes corporate and immigration as well as both residential and commercial real estate matters. Udani has worked with non-for-profit and government organizations, financial institutions, mid-size and small businesses as well as individuals.
During her time at law school, Udani was on the Dean’s Honour list, and selected to work with legal clinics providing legal assistance to disadvantaged communities in different areas of law such as housing, employment, income support, criminal injuries compensation and small claims court matters. Through her involvement with Community Legal Aid and Northumberland Community Legal Centre, Udani had the opportunity to advocate on behalf of her clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board, Social Benefits Tribunal and Criminal Injuries Compensation Board in Ontario. She received awards by the Queen’s Faculty of Law in recognition of her interest in advocacy and public service. Udani has also served as a Judicial Extern at the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan in Detroit where she conducted legal research and drafted memoranda of law on family law matters for a distinguished family law judge.
Prior to attending law school, Udani’s professional experience includes retail management, business development and community involvement in various organizations that serve needs and interests of disadvantaged local communities.
During her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and her dog, Mocha.
